Artists as guests at Eisch

Glass art and glass production - this combination has a long tradition in the glassworks EISH. Erwin Eisch, one of the founding fathers of the international studio glass movement, was already working on his own studio glass furnace at Glashütte Eisch in the 1960s. In 2oo5, the "Artist In Residence" project was launched. Since then, the Glashütte EISH international artists of distinction were invited to Frauenau for at least four weeks at a time. Within this limited creative period, the glassworks EISH The artists in residence can use all their technical and craft services to realise their artistic visions.

This commitment resulted in a mutual give and take: The glassworks received new artistic impulses with an impact on the glass region of the Bavarian Forest and the glass world. The result of this collaboration is a rich collection of glass artworks by renowned artists, which are exhibited in the Gallery of the glassworks EISH can be marvelled at and purchased. With its abbreviation "AIR", "Artist In Residence" stands for the global connection that glass art establishes, and also for the breath that gives glass its shape and is as transparent as the glass product.
